Thoughts on 2025

Well, it's fast approaching the end of yet another year, which I can't quite believe; I swear time is speeding up.

We've had a lovely year with lots of hiking, cycling, climbing and some wonderful trips abroad. We’ve met up and walked with friends and family which is always enjoyable, and have explored more of the New Forest and south coast which has been lovely. We’ve walked pretty much every day, in all weathers and have completed Country Walking magazine’s Walk 1000 miles in 2025 challenge, with one day to spare.

We’ve been out on our mountain bikes much more this year, and have really noticed the difference and felt the benefits it makes to our walking and heart rates, as well as being able to go further and faster. I’ve been doing regular yoga sessions and weight training, both of which I hope to increase much more next year. We did say we wanted to add a little running into our daily outings this year, but we only half heartedly attempted it, as we preferred to go out on the bikes so maybe the resolution will be to put a little more effort into that!

We are hoping to do more hiking and climbing in 2026 and have booked to go to the Peak District and of course, the Lake District, again. We have plans for a couple of what should be fascinating foreign destinations on the cards which is really exciting, and we have two potential, new, longer term challenges up our sleeves, one close to home for a bit of a change. I think the focus really will be on health and fitness next year as we get older and want to carry on doing what we do for as long as possible. We will of course also be out and about each day, walking and cycling in all weathers, as usual.

Whatever you choose to do next year, make it happy, healthy, enjoyable and filled with lots of laughter.
